SPOOKY STUFF IN A BOTTLE

Something spooky happened to me when I came in tonight.

I had just got home after a visit to the 24 hour supermarket, I was greeted by the dog who upon receiving a treat abandoned me to the task of unpacking what I had bought.

I had been shopping for my favourite orange juice and a bottle of cloudy lemonade. Normally I have the strong unsweetened kind, very grown up, like a beer, with a nice 'finish' a bitter aftertaste that lingers on the back of the tongue, but they had sold out and there was only the budget brand left.

Now we are talking budget here in the sense of cheap, I mean really cheap, but it was all they had, so I put a bottle of it into my basket and hoped for the best.

I was expecting mothing from this drink, but it would be something cold and fizzy to drink whilst I sat at my computer, so I opened the bottle, poured a small sample into a glass and with my eyes firmly shut, I took a tentative sip.

WOW! It was amazing, I was instantly transported in a Proustian moment with the taste and fragrance of a drink that was just like the old greengrocer's shop that used to be just down the road when I was little.

For a moment it was as if I really was back there in Mister McAlister's greengrocer's shop, as if, just for an instant, I had slipped through time on the sweet fruity aroma of the kind of shop that hardly exists anymore.

Now that is weird!
