One thing that I don't get is religion. I know that lots of people are hooked on this stuff, but I really think it's worth studying... as part of the general field of 'the paranormal'.
Ever since I was a kid I have been into all that ghost stuff, however ghosts and hauntings are different from all that religious stuff, if only just because there is actually some evidence for ghostly hauntings.
I'm absolutely convinced that the paranormal is what the renown British ghost-hunter Harry Price regarded as a subject fit for serious study.
Harry Price, if you don't know, was the author of a number of books about the paranormal, his best known book being
'The most Haunted House in England'
the story of the alleged hauntings at and around Borley Rectory.
There is a superb website dedicated to Harry Price, it is

Harry Price is a strange candidate for being a hero, but he was probably the first to advocate the scientific study of ghosts and hauntings, especially Poltergeists.
So, one of the things that I'm going to talk about here is the very difficult idea that so-called 'paranormal' and anomalous phenomena should be given the same amount of serious study as things like religion and other fairy stories.
