I have a problem with the television programmes that set out to uncover various paranormal events.
I really do want to like them, but they never seem to get it right, some of them find a ghost in every dark corner, others see a ghost every time a speck of dust floats by (you must know what I mean) and there are some programmes where even the people who are making them have no idea what the are supposed to be doing.
This is a serious subject, not just the hunting for ghosts, but the wider psychological implications.
In the UK you can make a television programme about 'the paranormal' and you can do a live show with a psychic medium, but you have to say that it is for entertainment purposes only.
I have no problem with this, so long as it is applied across the board.
If this rule were to be applied fairly there should be a disclaimer before and after Songs of Praise saying,
THIS PROGRAMME IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY
OTHER VIEWS ABOUT THE NATURE OF SPIRITUALITY EXIST
AND MAY BE JUST AS VALID
I also think that the same should be outside every place of worship.
